Employer Offers Job to Wilmington Student Before He’s Even Graduated

Skilled workers are in demand—and recently that became very apparent at MTC’s Wilmington Job Corps Center in Delaware.

Quashyne Jackson came to Job Corps with a high school diploma and a desire to gain the skills he needed to succeed in the workforce. He enrolled in the facilities maintenance program and later started a five-week internship at an apartment complex.

Just one day before completing his internship, the vice president of AJPC Management, a property management company in Newark, Delaware, contacted the center in search of a facilities maintenance technician.

Less than two hours later, Quashyne had a conditional offer on the table to work for the company. Four days later, he was hired and on his way to a solid, new career.

“I’m very excited to be working for a great company doing what I love doing. Job Corps really gave me the chance to prove myself and to show that I can be successful in my career. I’m so grateful to my instructors and to Job Corps for giving me the direction I needed in life.”
