St. Louis Job Corps Employer Partner Helps Graduates Succeed

St. Louis Job Corps Instructor Roosevelt Robinson (Home Builders Institute) teamed up with Clayco Inc. to produce results for graduates. Clayco is a “full-service, turnkey real estate, architecture, engineering, design-build and construction firm.” The company has an initiative called the Construction Career Development Initiative (CCDI) whose mission is “to bring diversity to the Design and Construction industry by mentoring and exposing minority, underrepresented and underserved students to career development in construction. The program’s director, Rachel Boemer, said this about St. Louis Job Corps graduate Rashaad Smith.

“Rashaad was a perfect fit for our program, so we quickly got to work finding opportunities for him in the electrical pathway.”

Thanks to this partnership, Rashaad is now working as an electric apprentice at Guarantee Electric in St. Louis, MO.

Rashaad recently told Ms. Boemer how happy he was to be working in the electrical field.

“I love the people and the work environment. I’ve been trying to absorb a lot of information at once, but I’m catching on very quickly. Overall, it’s great, and I’m looking forward to my future with Guarantee Electric.”
