Tongue Point Employer Partner Praises Center Training

Placing Job Corps graduates in jobs is a top priority of Job Corps. And key to achieving this result is developing strong partnerships with local employers. The Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria, Oregon has a great relationship with Steel & Timber Construction/Fabrication.

The company provides internship opportunities for students and hires them. Steel & Timber Construction/Fabrication recently posted this message on their Facebook site welcoming two new interns:

“Andy and Felicia come to us from the welding program at the Tongue Point Job Corps Center here in Astoria. Through Job Corps’ work-based learning program, Felicia and Andy are getting ‘real-world’, on-the-job experience in the field. And Steel & Timber…has been fortunate enough to be able to provide them with this experience! Andy and Felicia have played a key role in getting the 29 gabions [wirework container filled with rock] fabricated and shipped off to be installed at Willamette Park in July. They are incredibly hard workers, and the quality of their work is outstanding. Big huge thanks to Felicia and Andy for all of their hard work and to the Job Corps training program at Tongue Point for the obvious great training they offer their students!”
